The Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) covers 233 square miles (603 km2) of Northern England in the county of North Yorkshire. The AONB shares a common boundary with the Yorkshire Dales National Park immediately to the west.

The special quality of the landscape was formally recognised by the Government on 14 February 1994, when it was designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Over the last year we have been developing an application to the Heritage Lottery Fund for funding to support a large scale scheme in Upper Nidderdale.  An application for up to £1.5 million to support heritage projects is in its initial stages and we would like your thoughts and ideas for what should be included. The Nidderdale AONB Heritage Strategy identifies the objectives, policies and actions required for the sustainable management of the Nidderdale AONB's heritage until 2014.
