| 'Flight' is a new installation
which will be on show from the 12th June to the 1st October in
number 3 King Street Workshops, Pateley Bridge. It will
run alongside the Migration Exhibition by Isobel
Lambert (curated by Biddy Noakes).
The installation, which has Arts
Council support, reflects six months of birdwatching in
the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Each day's observations are recorded
in stitch on hand made silk feathers. Each feather then makes a
'wing-like' book and in total three sets of 'wings' will fly across
the gallery towards the open doors. Any birds spotted outside the
AONB area will be isolated feathers which will be suspended
separately.
Artist Sue Harrison explains, "The
purpose of the installation is to capture my daily responses and
observations before they too fly beyond my grasp. The work also
reflects my interest in attempting to increase engagement with the
environment by harnessing artistic and creative responses."
