The aim of these guidelines is to provide advice for horse owners and equestrian businesses who may be planning new development. The guidelines provide information about how to ensure that equestrian development complements the AONB.

The guidelines were formally adopted by Harrogate Borough Council as a Special Development Document in 2007. This means they will be used by the Council in considering applications for planning permission for equestrian development in the AONB.
