Greenhow Local History Group

Based on the success of their book 'Life on the Hill' the Greenhow Local History Club are looking to republish an important 1920s text on the Greenhow area, which captures the local oral history and mining traditions from that time.

The text 'T'ill an' T'Oade Uns Upuv Greenho', by Harold John Lexow Bruff, 1920, (published by York: TAJ Waddington. 'Yorkshire News' Office, Mansfield St), is an Account of the Traditions, Life and Work of The Old Lead Miners of Greenhow Hill in Yorkshire.

Unfortunately copyright on texts extends until 70 years after the author's death, and the group have been unable to locate his family to ask for permission. The group would be very grateful if anyone with information would contact Malcolm Street at greenhow302@aol.com or on 07923 441523.

Details of how to purchase the Groups book 'Life on the Hill' can be found here.
