The Dam
In a world of your own
The beauty comes to life
And the colours are a sight
The dam is such a beautiful and wonderful place
And better than stone beck

John Wright, age 10

The water,
The waves,
The reflection,
Everything beautiful.
The ripples danced,
As the opposite side was filled with colour from different types of trees
There were purples, yellows, red, everything

Caleb, age 9

The Dam Poem
In a world of your own
Creative imagination happens to flow
Across the dam is a wonderful place
The colours, the water its one big place
A path of water runs
As the 15 year making of the dam was not fun
The dam is ready and now is there
The sun that shines on it is quite fair

Benjamin Nayler, age 10

The Ripples
The ripples danced
The ripples dived
The ripples moved every second like a monster was hidden beneath it
The ripples were made by brown trout in the water

The Lake
The lake, the lake said Jake
Hold him still and chuck him in
Hey look at that bin said Jake
Said Jake lets chuck him in the lake

Douglas, age 9

Reflection makes the water shine
Glimmering its so divine

A splash of colour quiet and bright
Looking up at gods great light

For now and here
We'll never see how this creation came to be

Isabelle, age 10

The muddy brown reservoir rippled gracefully
Carpeted moor surrounds us
The picture of the tall green tress are in the horizon
Looking down onto the lake

You can hear voices echoing around
Stones fall and circles appear
Getting smaller and smaller and smaller

Liberty Skinner, age 10

Silvery water shines like a star
Reflection like an exact copy of the moor
The splash of colour stood out in the water

Hannah Rawnsley, age 9

As the trees skim the roofs of the sky
The gentle ripples are silently graceful
When the carpeted moor rustles
The wind causes mayhem when it gets too strong
The bridge towers above the gentle water
The lake paints a picture of the landscape above
As the trees tower above the silent water

Molly Bee, age 10

If you look out onto the valley
You feel really dull and glum
Looking at all of the pearly white
And black and grey
All of the reflections of the hills
Are green and brown and purple and yellow
And red

The trees look beautiful and give you a happy feeling
The have green, purple, yellow, orange
Brown and red
And it makes you feel all happy and warm
One tree has fallen over and it looks like a spider

The water is so muddy and brown
It looks like the muck
That is on the bridge
The reflections of the sky
Look like a massive thunder cloud

The actual dam itself
Is a beautiful thing
Of squares and rocks
That are square and round

The water is now crystal clear
It looks like a summers afternoon sky
All bright blue and turquoise

The walls of the dam
Are all so colourful
All orange, blacks
Yellow, silver, red like stains of blood,
Grey, pearly whites,
Green golden and brown

Samantha, age 9

Scar House Reservoir
The water painting a picture
All of it smudged colours
All as pure
As the peaceful moors

The bird tweeting away
About the pearly lake
To pass away the day
And to show us what a song they can make

The amazing shine
Upon the glimmering mirror
Makes a view so divine
And a beautiful shimmer

The fir trees
The mountains
The needle leaves
Shows what a valley can contain

The glimmer of light
Between the clouds
Reflecting on water so bright
Above all the other magical things

Upside down views
Is quite a bit of news
Upside down hills
With upside down mills

Sophie English, age 9
