Project: AONB Access for All
Applicant: North Yorkshire County Council
Awarded: £15,000
The project aims to significantly upgrade the rights of way infrastructure in a number of parishes to make countryside sites more accessible for users of all abilites.
 
Project:Middlesmoor Village Hall Restoration
Applicant: Middlesmoor Village Hall Committee
Awarded: £1,700
Middlesmoor Village Hall dates back to 1807 and provides an essential location for social and cultural events in an isolated Upper Dales hamlet. The viability of the building was under threat because it needed extensive restoration including reroofing.  Financial support has been provided from SDF to contribute to the costs of installing sustainable roof insulation.  The grant will also pay for an energy and carbon audit on the property which will suggest further ways to save energy in the future.
 
Project: Experience Hackfall
Applicant: Woodland Trust
Awarded: £7,500 (+ £7,500 in 08/09)
Owned by the Woodland Trust, Hackfall Wood is a Grade 1 listed and on the Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.  A significant HLF grant has been secured to improve access and interpretation on the site.  An SDF grant has been awarded to develop school visits and educational materials as well as creating a volunteer group, training and equipment.
 
Project: Farm Energy and Carbon Audits
Applicant: FWAG
Awarded: £13,656.25
FWAG North Yorkshire have used an SDF grant to deliver 2 seminars to launch the 'Farm Energy and Carbon Audit' developed by the CLA.  Following the seminars, 10 on farm audits have been conducted to examine energy useage and greenhouse gas emmissions.  It calculates farm energy useage and produces an estimate of the farms carbon footprint.  A report is produced for each audit identifying areas for energy and cost savings.
 
Project: Escape Mountain Biking
Applicant:Nigel Ezard
Awarded: £3,825
An SDF grant has been awarded to help set up a business providing mountain biking instruction and leadership in the AONB.  A range of services will be offered by 'Escape Mountain Biking' including organised holidays, guided riding, working with local outdoor centres and skills training.
