The Nidderdale Conservation Volunteers (NCV's) are a friendly group who enjoy being out in the countryside and doing practical conservation work within the Nidderdale AONB.  The activities directly benefit nature conservation and landscape quality, as well as assisting public enjoyment of the countryside.

The programme includes tasks such as footpath repair, pond restoration, woodland management, scrub clearance, fencing, and waymarking in locations throughout the AONB.

The Summer NCV Work Programme (PDF 20KB) for May to August is now available and contains a variety of tasks.

The tasks are organised and lead by Nidderdale AONB Ranger, Colin Slator, with the agreement of local landowners.  We welcome anyone who wants to "have a go" and doesn't mind getting their hands dirty! No experience is necessary as we provide the tools and training.

We meet:
Every Tuesday, outside the AONB office (opposite the Police Station, King Street, Pateley Bridge) at 9.00am. Full details of each volunteer day are emailed out early on a Monday afternoon. We recommend that you contact the AONB office if you intend to come just in case of any planned changes to the programme.

Please bring:
Practical outdoor clothing (including waterproofs), boots or wellies and plenty of food and drink for the day.

If you'd like to know more just ask a Ranger!
You can contact Barry Slaymaker on 01423 712950 (Monday to Thursday) or Colin Slator on 07525 988212 (Monday & Tuesday). Alternatively you can email us at nidderdaleaonb@harrogate.gov.uk or call into the AONB office.
