Each year the Nidderdale AONB team, with the support of
local experts, organise a programme of events focusing on the
special qualities of the area.
This years programme runs from April to October and there is a
wide range of events including dry stone walling, guided
walks, geocaching and moorland safaris. There really is something
for everyone to enjoy!
Details fo all the events can be found over the next few pages
so why not take a look and book your places now.
Essential Information
Booking:
Some events must be pre-booked and
pre-paid to guarantee your place.
For all other events booking is not essential but it
is recommend as places are limited. Your safety and
enjoyment are very important to us and we therefore have to adhere
to guidelines on group numbers. Unfortunately this means that we
will allocate places on a first come, first served basis and
there may be times when we have to turn people
away, but please respect the decision of the walk
leader .
To book please complete and return our events booking
form.
Please note that bookings are non refundable unless the
event is cancelled by the AONB.
Clothing & Equipment:
Walk leaders can only accept participants who are
appropriately prepared for the conditions so please come
dressed/equipped accordingly for the event you are attending and
the weather conditions.
n.b. The weather can be very different higher up the Dale to
on lower ground.
For all events we recommend:
Food & Drink:
We recommend that you bring plenty to drink and a snack on all
events. If a packed lunch is required this will be stated in the
event description.
Children:
Children are welcome on all events unless stated otherwise but
under 16's must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Dogs:
Dogs are not permitted unless stated otherwise. Where dogs are
permitted they must be well behaved, kept on a short lead at all
times and be fit enough to negotiate stiles and steep climbs.
Toilets:
Many of the events, in particular guided walks and Hackfall
events, are in remote locations where there are no toilet
facilities.
Transport:
The AONB supports sustainable modes of transport and a number
of our events are accessible by public transport. Public transport
users can attend events for free on production of a valid ticket.
Timetables and further information on public transport can be found
at www.traveline.org.uk or by ringing 0871 200 22 33.
Cancellation of Events:
Whilst care has been taken to organise these events there are
sometimes circumstances beyond our control that will lead to the
cancellation of an event. We will make every effort to contact
those attendees that have booked with as much notice as possible.
We also recommend that you contact the AONB office prior to an
event to check it is still going ahead. Those attending should be
aware that bad weather might cause events to be cancelled or
postponed. We reserve the right to postpone or cancel any
events.
