Situated in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, in North Yorkshire, Nidderdale AONB is one of 46 AONBs in the UK. Between them they cover 18% of the UK’s finest countryside and are special places, worthy of protection.

This 600km2 of protected working landscape is a fantastic place to visit and explore.

The special qualities of Nidderdale AONB are embedded in the working nature of the landscape, which supports a wide range of nationally and internationally important habitats and wildlife.

About 16,000 people live and work in Nidderdale AONB and the small AONB team is committed to working with local people and organisations to conserve and enhance the natural beauty of the area. Find out here about how to get involved in looking after Nidderdale AONB.
